Arsacius was brother of the archbishop of Constantinoupolis Nectarius. He was a native of Tarsus in Kikilia, and was elected to the patriarchal see immediately after the second exile of St John Chysostom. The conditions under which he was elected did not help his immediate acceptance, because the supporters of St John Chrystostom remained faithful to their wrongly exiled hierarch. Arascius served as an archbishop during this wild period for a short term.
The Church honoured him as a Saint; his memory is kept on the 11st of October.
