Joasaph I

Joasaph became a Patriarch at a difficult period and provoked many reactions. He came into conflict with Georgios Amirountzis, who had a lot of power to the High Gate. Therefore, at his proposal Joasaph was deposed from the Patriarchal throne, because he refused to bless the lawless wedding that the sultan was asking.
