The historic event of the return, from Rome of the holy relics of the Archbishops of Constantinople Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostome was held at the Phanar in a doxological Holy Procession. The holy relics, which were escorted by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and hierarchs, returned to Istanbul after 8 centuries. On the day of their arrival, they were placed on the Throne of Patriarchal Church of St George (27 November 2004).
